🌟 Message of the Week

Gospel of Luke 2:22–40 — Waiting, Wonder, and Welcoming the Light

In this beautiful passage, we meet Simeon and Anna — two people who have spent a lifetime waiting in hope. They are not powerful or prominent. They are simply faithful. Day after day, year after year, they keep turning up to the Temple, trusting that God is still at work, even when nothing outwardly seems to change.

And then, quietly and unexpectedly, God’s promise is fulfilled.

Not through spectacle or status, but through an ordinary young family carrying a baby in their arms.

Simeon takes the child Jesus and recognises what others might miss:
God’s salvation has come. The light has entered the world.

There’s something deeply reassuring here.

God often works in small, gentle ways.
Hope often arrives quietly.
And faithfulness — the simple act of staying, trusting, and showing up — truly matters.

This reading invites us to reflect:

  • Where might God be at work in the ordinary moments of our lives?
  • What promises are we still waiting for?
  • How can we remain open to recognising God’s presence, even when it looks different from what we expected?

Like Simeon and Anna, we are called to live with expectant hearts — not rushed, not hardened by disappointment, but attentive and ready.

This week, may we slow down enough to notice the quiet signs of God’s light around us.
May we trust that God is still fulfilling promises — in us, through us, and beyond us.
And may we become people who, through kindness, patience, and love, help others glimpse that light too.

A short prayer:
Faithful God,
teach us to wait with hope,
to see with open hearts,
and to welcome your light into every part of our lives.
Amen.
