St Mary’s Mothers’ Union
Mothers’ Union is a global Christian movement working with people of all faiths and none to develop communities, strengthen families and advocate for change.
We have a membership of over four million Christians in 84 countries worldwide (76,000 in the UK). Our members are not all mothers, or even all women. They are single, married, divorced, parents, grandparents, or young adults just beginning to express their social conscience. Mothers' Union is unique because our members work as volunteers in local communities, putting their Christian faith into action by acts great and small, giving individuals in need a helping hand and enabling communities to have the confidence and skills to transform their lives in a sustainable way.
We have an active Mother’s Union at St Mary’s of members that meets regularly (monthly) and organises a wide variety of meetings and events throughout the year. Praying, worshiping and fellowship with each other is a key component of our membership.
Why not put your faith and fellowship into action by joining us as we encourage and work together for a better world?
Mary Sumner was the Founder of the movement in 1876 and at St Mary’s we celebrated our 120th Anniversary as a branch in 2018!
Prayer for the day
“[The Birth of Jesus Foretold] In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.””
