Families at St Mary's
You're very welcome at any service, but we also have a range of services at different times of day and on different days to try and cater for the needs of families. Find out more below.
‘All-Age service’; 10:30a.m., Second Sunday each month - Coffee & Croissant from 10am
We begin with a shared breakfast of croissants and fresh coffee/tea and hot chocolate for the kids.
Our service begins around 10.30 with a mix of more modern worship songs led by the worship team/band. The morning could include puppets, dramatized bible readings, film clips, creative prayer stations, crafts and games. There will be a theme to the day, bible readings, prayer in some form, a short talk aimed at all ages and some light liturgy.
There is no Sunday school as we hope our children will enjoy this one too; mess and noise welcome!
The service should run for 45-50 minutes.
We then resume with the option for a ‘Said Holy Communion’ service in the chapel without any compulsion for busy families to stay.
Led by one of our clergy and our experience all-age team. Usual attendance around 110.
‘Explore Together’; 4pm, Third Sunday each month - Tea & Crumpets afterwards
Something for everyone - Mums, Dads & kids.
A time to explore themes together which resonate with modern family life - time, money, work, parenting etc etc.
Themes can be explored through drama, craft, music, reflective time or just chatting. You decide and choose how you want to Explore the theme on the day.
Very relaxed and informal – and ends with a mug of tea & crumpets!
When: 3rd Sunday of the month
Messy Church; 3.45-5.30 p.m. Fourth Wednesdays
A fun time for the whole family to come together to encounter God in a light hearted yet often surprisingly profound way! Arrive to a selection of toys and games out for the little ones, join in with a range of crafts themed around the Bible passage of the day, hear a bible story [or watch it acted and maybe join in], sing a song or two and then share a great meal together as one big family. Lots of fun, lots of mess with Jesus in the centre then take the kids home happy! What could be better?
Led by our ‘Children’s, Youth and Family Team Leader’ and the fabulous Messy team. Usual attendance around 60.
