Baptisms

We are delighted that you are thinking of having your child baptised, (Christening is the word many people use for a Child’s baptism) or you yourself may want to be baptised? No one is too young or too old!

Please contact the Office and speak to our Administrator Debbie who will help you. (01237 472551 between 10-12)

You will be invited to a Baptism Preparation evening led by the Clergy, where you will be asked to fill out a Baptism form. Most baptisms happen on the second and fourth Sunday- either in the main 10am Service or afterwards.

Through baptism the child/person being baptised is welcomed into the Church family. In order to meet the Church family we will ask you to attend an All Age Service (1030am 2nd Sunday) or an ‘Experience Together’ event (4pm on the 3rd Sunday) or come to a normal Holy Communion Service on the 1st & 4th  Sundays at 10am when there is also a Sunday School.

Nearer to the date of your child’s baptism a baptism visitor will visit to go through the finer details of the Baptism with you, which he/she will pass onto the member of Clergy who is taking the Service. .

Through baptism you are a member of the Church family and this is the start of your little ones journey of faith. Please seek to live out the promises of ‘Following Jesus’ by coming to Church when you can. (See what we have to offer Children and families in the ‘Children section’ of this website.)
