High above us, in the bell tower of St Mary’s Church, something rather special has taken place. Nest boxes have now been installed to provide safe nesting places for swifts – remarkable birds that travel thousands of miles each year to return to the same place they call home.
Sadly, swift numbers have declined dramatically in recent decades as traditional nesting sites have disappeared. By creating new homes in our church tower, we’re giving these extraordinary birds a chance to thrive once again.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps us continue this work of caring for God’s creation and protecting one of Britain’s most iconic summer visitors.
