On Sunday we celebrated Pentecost — the day the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples and the Church was born.

With Pentecost, the Easter season comes to a close. We look back with joy on the journey from the empty tomb to that moment of fire and wind, of bold voices speaking in many tongues. What began with a frightened few gathered in an upper room became a Church sent out to carry the Good News to the ends of the earth.

And we are part of that same story — filled with that same Spirit, called to that same mission. As we step into Ordinary Time, may we carry the fire of Pentecost with us into the days ahead.

A prayer for this week:

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love. As you sent the apostles out from that upper room, send us out too — with courage, with joy, and with words of life to share. Amen
